As commercial artists, there’s this thing that happens in the process of working for clients, where we lose our own perspective. We lose our voice. It’s something I wish was talked about more—the way we lose ourselves if we’re not careful.
I wanted to be a designer forever. I had the same post in my yearbook since grade five. The one before grade five said I wanted to be a ninja turtle, and then after that, I wanted to be a designer.
When I look at these old projects I see the things that went wrong and the things I could’ve done better. But instead of viewing them as imperfections, I’m choosing to see these moments as Mak.
